mind, body and spirit.

Shopping for the perfect athletic shoe doesn’t have to be exercise. Thanks to Just Run, a new boutique running store in Bird Rock, San Diego sneaker-seekers can find the perfect fit.

“I have a philosophy that everything we touch should have passion, adaptability, a unique style and be done with integrity,” says Justin Cipriani, owner of Just Run. “These are the principles of Just Run.”

Having recently opened in January, Just Run is the realization of Cipriani’s long-standing passion for shoes, running and entrepreneurship. The specialty store offers a personalized approach to outfitting runners and walkers of all ages, interests and ability levels—from the marathoner striving to attain a personal record to a senior traveler seeking the perfect walking shoe for a European vacation. With a dedication to the distinct needs of each customer, Just Run provides a unique place to pursue a passion for running… the chance to put one’s best, and most comfortable, foot forward.

“Just Run is about providing the best shoe to suit the person,” says Cipriani. “I want customers to have the most natural and comfortable feeling possible, and the store is multi-versed to help achieve that level of comfort.”

By multi-versed, Cipriani means fully wired for hi-tech fit testing. Customers are treated to a complimentary gait analysis to determine what shoe suits them best. Testing for arch height and stability, Just Run staff use an iPad to film 10 seconds of walking or running on the treadmill or sidewalk, then project the video on the

store’s media wall or iPad (depending on the customer’s comfort level), and analyze their gait frame by frame. Based on what they see, they select a handful of shoes to fit the customer’s needs and aesthetic preferences. Cipriani, a shoe buff whose passion for Nike Jordan sneakers inspired his interest in the shoe business, ensures that the store carries shoes that not only offer comfort, but also look good while doing it.

“There is so much that goes into a pleasurable running experience,” Cipriani says, “and Just Run is geared toward helping the wide range of customers achieve that experience.”

The full Just Run experience also includes a commitment to the community that has made the store feel right at home in its first few months in business. Cipriani, a Bird Rock resident since 2009, is so connected to the community that he hosts weekly group runs, holds a running clinic for the San Diego Run Club, and not only offers a 10 percent discount to families from local elementary schools, but also matches that 10 percent with a donation to the schools’ athletic programs.

“If I can’t help a fellow runner or family in my community, there’s no reason for me to open a community store,” he says.
“I’m really passionate about Bird Rock and how it’s evolved, and I want Just Run to be a hub and a hangout—something that’s a real part of the community.” Visit Just Run at 5490 La Jolla Blvd., justrunsd.com.
