In November, Martin Lawrence Galleries will feature the works of artist Francois Fressinier. Fressinier cites inspiration from artists such as Rembrandt, Van Dyke, Bonnard and Fuchs, and his many modern figurative works feature “… the human figure in all of its intricacies of beauty and life.” While some of his more famous subjects include Adele and Kate Moss, Fressinier credits his wife, Colette, as being his muse. The artist will be in attendance at Martin Lawrence Galleries on November 4 from 6–8 pm.

On display in December are the works of Erte, whose art influenced an entire movement that would become known as “Art Deco.” In addition to serigraphs and bronze sculptures, Erte also created original costumes and fashion designs for many famous actresses at the time, including Joan Crawford, Lillian Gish, Marion Davies and Norma Shearer. Erte’s original designs grace the world’s most prestigious museums, including New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian Institution and London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.
