San Diegans are lucky to live where the days and nights are equally dreamy. We’re even luckier that our culinary scene mirrors that. With mornings that are fresh, afternoons that are sun-kissed and evenings made for wining and dining, it’s no wonder that indulging is our favorite pastime. These dishes remind us not to hold back as they come out to play three times a day!

1. Juice Crafters

A+ energy and bountiful nutrients are standard in the SoCal morning miracle—a.k.a., the açai bowl. Blending our favorite Amazonian berry with banana is just the first step in this magical creation. The Brazilian Super Blend Bowl is then topped with crunchy almond granola, strawberries, more bananas and a dusting of shaved coconut. Treat your tastebuds and your body.

Serving: morning, noon and night (Closes at 7 p.m.)

2. Lockwood Table Café

Flowers aren’t the only thing blooming this spring. The Quinoa Bowl is in sync with nature and has the bright flavors to prove it. The almighty grain is mixed with baby greens, giving a hearty foundation to sweet golden beets, roasted red pepper, cherry tomatoes, avocado and red onion. The rest is up to you: choose from albacore tuna, grilled chicken or spicy sausage. Liven up lunch this season.

3. Pomodoro

Three words that make everyone happy: Italian for dinner. The Pollo Arrotolato translates as “rolled chicken,” but that’s hardly the whole story here. It’s then stuffed with a creamy ricotta cheese and sautéed spinach and generously finished with a savory mushroom sauce. A vibrant pop of carrots, broccoli and roasted potatoes round out the plate and bada bing—supper is served! Psst, pass the chianti.

4. Parakeet Café

Let’s face it. Veggies are so in right now. A lively assortment of beets, zucchini, carrots, baby tomatoes, sweet corn and nut cheese nest in a bed of buckwheat noodles to create a celebration of healthy goodness. Peppery arugula and tangy balsamic keep things light, making this Grilled Vegetable Bowl a perfect option for a midday pick-me-up.

Serving: morning, noon and night (Closes at 7 p.m.)

5. Elixir

Less lunch on the go, more fine dine on the fly with this Balsamic Glazed Grilled Chicken Panini. Pressed and partnered with earthy arugula, soft goat cheese and a puckery red pepper jam, lunch and elegance have never looked better together. Add an extra boost with a cold-pressed beet juice or a ginger and turmeric immunity shot. Your afternoon will thank you.

Serving: morning, noon and night (Closes at 6 p.m.)

6. Spice & Rice Thai Kitchen

We’ve found another way to go green in 2018. Wild Alaskan salmon shares the stage with avocado, sautéed spinach, green bell peppers and a spirited Thai green curry sauce. Aptly named the Green Salmon, this neighborhood dinner favorite gets the final crunch in with a fried taro topping. This is a photo worth sharing. Go on, we won’t judge!

Serving: noon and night

7. Harry’s Coffee Shop

There’s no fakin’ good bacon. Feast your eyes upon this favorite from La Jolla’s most iconic diner: The B.W. Benny. A thin, bacon-filled, golden brown waffle makes a perfect base for poached eggs, grilled ham, rich hollandaise and yes, more bacon. Throw a little warm syrup on top for a reminder that breakfast is anything but boring.

8. Broken Yolk Café

Did someone say Mexican for breakfast? The Sope Benedict is here to give your morning a south-of-the-border flair. The fiesta starts with seasoned and shredded beef nestled inside thick and crispy tortillas, and is topped with poached eggs, homemade ranchero sauce, Cotija cheese, salsa fresca, sour cream — oh, and the beloved avocado, of course. Buenos Dias!

Serving: morning and noon

9. Americana Restaurant

There’s just something about lamb that resonates the idea of dinner done right. These Grilled Lamb Chops sit pretty atop a Mediterranean medley of healthy and hearty spring greens with kalamata olives, feta cheese, radish, grilled green beans and a zesty lemon oregano vinaigrette. Pair this with a glass of your favorite red as the waves roll in just blocks away.
