Solana Beach’s Lotus shares the stories of its 40-plus neighborhood vendors.

In an era of point-and-click purchases, it’s refreshing to discover a shopping experience where getting to know about the person behind the merchandise
is what really matters. We love this about Lotus in the heart of Solana Beach’s Cedros Design District. Lotus provides a haven for the work of more than 40 San Diego–area artists, artisans, and small businesses. It’s a place where guests are encouraged to browse, ask questions, and even linger longer—over coffee or a glass of wine.

Lotus’s entrance is filled with light. Thanks to its expansive atrium style, it
is bedecked with a distinct set of chandeliers. This welcoming space is
collaboratively decorated (and routinely redecorated) by a team of independent, local designers. Whimsical and inviting, the entrance sets the stage for what lies ahead: a myriad of captivating booths and wall displays—each featuring the goods of an independent vendor. Together, it’s an ever-changing collection of unique clothing, jewelry, home apparel, artwork, and more.

“Each of our vendors has a story to tell,” explains Director of Sales Channon Medeiros, who with his partner, Store Director Rubie Pelegreen, spearheaded a thorough renovation of Lotus last year. “Everyone who works here knows each story and loves to share them with our customers.”

“In fact,” Rubie adds, “We refer to our small staff as ‘storytellers’ instead
of ‘shopkeepers.’ And the stories we tell are of artists, artisans, and other vendors who truly are our neighbors.”

Lotus is all about creating a meaningful experience so when you stop in, slow down. You’ll feel even better about shopping small and local after hearing the stories behind the items that call to you.
