MOSSY FORD GOES CARBON NEUTRAL
Mossy Ford in Pacific Beach recognizes that the biggest negative environmental impact that car dealerships have on the environment is through the carbon emissions produced from the vehicles they sell. As a member of The Carbon Offset Company’s Drive Carbon Neutral Program, the dealership is dedicated to planting 75 trees for each vehicle they sell to offset the vehicle’s driving emissions for 5 years (the average length of vehicle ownership). The trees are planted as close as the Angeles, Payette, and Cleveland National Forests in California, and as far as Haiti, Senegal, and Madagascar. Mossy Ford’s goal is plant more than 1,000,000 trees over the next 5 years! To keep track of their progress, visit the About Us page at mossyford.com and click on the Drive Carbon Neutral Program link.

GATHER TOGETHER AT ORCHARD HILL
Thanksgiving dinner is a beautiful tradition at Orchard Hill Country Inn in Julian. Resort guests spend Thanksgiving morning as they please. Some enjoy coffee and a book on their porch, while others hit a hiking trail or stroll into town. No matter how they enjoy the morning, guests return for their seating at either 2 or 6 pm. A sumptuous feast with all the trimmings is served in the dining room, complete with herb- roasted free-range turkey, country sausage dressing, and pumpkin cake doused with caramel pecan sauce. Besides food, they savor good conversation and time spent with family and friends—old and new. No cooking. No dishes. Plus, there are plenty of fresh turkey sandwiches served in the great room after 7 pm. This is the year to join them.

THE MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART SAN DIEGO PRESENTS ALEXIS SMITH: THE AMERICAN WAY

This is the first retrospective of this widely known California artist’s work in more than 30 years. Alexis Smith’s mixed-media collage works draw heavily on film, literature, and pop culture. Her unique practice has been informed by conceptual and pop art and shaped by the Feminist movement of the 1970s, yet she has set out a path all her own and consistently defies easy categorization. On view at MCASD from now through February 5. For museum hours and additional information, visit mcasd.org

Alexis Smith, Men Seldom Make Passes at Girls Who Wear Glasses, 1985. Wall painting with two framed mixed-media collages, panels: 27 x 33 x 3 3/4 in. (68.6 x 83.8 x 9.5 cm), each of 2; overall dimensions variable. Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, Museum purchase with partial funds from Ansley I. Graham Trust, Los Angeles, 1995.9.1-2.
