MANIFESTATIONS
A magical tribute to Edgar Allan Poe
Professional magician Terry Commons opened his first dinner theater in 1997, and he has enchanted guests with unforgettable gourmet dinners and magic ever since. Mystique Dining, Terry’s fourth magical dining venue, opened on Pearl Street in La Jolla in 2021. Featuring a splendid Grand Dining Chamber, Mystique Dining has quickly become known as the area’s premier dinner theater, where five-course gourmet meals serve as a prelude for compelling magic shows presented by esteemed magicians from around the world. Therefore, it’s no surprise that locals are already making reservations for this September and October, when the Mystique Grand Dining Chamber will present Manifestations: A Magical Tribute to Edgar Allan Poe, the experience that first made it famous.
The lights will dim and spirits will take over in the form of many exciting special effects. As guests dine in the dark and eerie room, supernatural things will occur, while the works of legendary poet and author, Edgar Allan Poe, are presented in a spellbinding way.

As guests savor each course of an exquisite five-course meal, they will gasp, jump, and shudder in reaction to a hauntingly beautiful narrative. Inspired by Poe’s fabled poem, “Annabel Lee,” and his short story masterpieces: The Masque of the Red Death, The Tell-Tale Heart, and The Pit and the Pendulum, the production is professionally produced and highly praised. Each evening promises to be unforgettable.
“Presently I heard a slight groan, and I knew it was a groan of mortal terror . . . the low stifled sound that arises from the bottom of the soul.” This passage from Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart could be written by a guest after their meal. As dessert is served, the magic will continue, in the form of an exhilarating forty-five-minute show performed by Mystique’s founder, Terry Commons and his esteemed colleague, Derek Ostavani.
Online reservations are required for this exciting Mystique Dining experience and tickets are available and selling fast. It’s easy to reserve your spot. Just pick a date, choose your seats, select your entrées, and add any necessary dietary notes to the chef. You can edit any of this information up until the day before the performance. It’s important to book soon because once the tickets are gone, “Quoth the Raven, ‘Nevermore!’”
