SIMPLY RADIANT

Skin rejuvenation without the frills

By the time most San Diegans reach their mid-thirties, we start doing what we can to keep our skin as smooth and youthful looking as possible. We wear hats, ask for tables in the shade, and generously apply and reapply sunscreen. And periodically, we investigate treatments that will help reduce the signs of aging.

There are many salons, spas, and clinics throughout the county that offer procedures to help give our skin a boost. Most offer a full menu of options in luxurious settings, including Dermal Rejuvenation and Wellness Spa in Poway.

Recently, the spa’s founder, Dr. Nader Harechan DC, licensed aesthetician and licensed body-art practitioner, noted that an increased number of their clientele were driving to Poway from San Diego’s coastal communities. He decided to bring two of his most promising skin rejuvenation procedures to them. Dr. Nader has since opened a one-room spa suite in La Jolla offering dermaplaning and microneedling treatments.

DERMAPLANING
Dermaplaning is a non-invasive treatment for the face that uses a manual exfoliation technique not only to exfoliate the skin but also to temporarily reduce villus hair (peach fuzz).  The treatment promises to reduce uneven skin tone by removal of dead skin cells and allows for fresher, brighter skin. The final step to this treatment is the application of a gel collagen mask. The dermaplaning allows increased absorption of products from the gel mask into the skin and it has a profound effect.

EPIDERMAL MICRONEEDLING
Epidermal Microneedling is a very popular cosmetic procedure used to treat skin concerns by stimulating its production of collagen. A handheld device called a microneedling pen with sterilized, disposable microneedles is used to cause a micro-trauma in the skin, which stimulates collagen production. Benefits include a decrease in noticeable facial lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and an improvement in overall skin tone and texture.

“Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule found in the skin which is crucial for moisture and elasticity,” Dr. Nader explains. Immediately upon the completion of microneedling, the concentration of hyaluronic acid increases in the micro-traumatized areas of the skin to speed up healing. An external application of hyaluronic acid is also applied during the treatment to further plump and moisturize the skin.

Although most clients see improvements after either procedure, a series of treatments is usually advised to achieve the best results. Dr. Nader is currently offering new clients discounts on their first treatment at a generous discount. The first session of Dermaplaning (regularly $260) is $90 and Epidermal Microneedling (regularly $290) is $110 per session. The opportunity to purchase future treatments at a discount will also be provided.
